About The Australian Stock Exchange
The main stock exchange in Australia was formed by the merger of the Sydney Futures Exchange and the Australian Stock Exchange resulting in what now is known as the Australian Securities Exchange. The ASX was formed in 2006 and is now the primary stock exchange in Australia. The ASX provides an array of investment vehicles including; real estate investment trusts, exchange traded options, futures, equities, investment trusts, intrest rate securities, warrants, and contracts for difference.

The ASX’s main functions include market operations, acting as a clearing house and facilitating systems. Taking on the role of educating retail investors, the ASX provides many products and materials to investors including free online classes teaching investors about the ASX’s products.

Normal Operating Hours are from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM Sydney time. This is when the largest amount of trades take place. In addition to the days the ASX is closed, there are a few days on the calander the ASX closes early.
