The Bombay Stock Exchange generally known as BSE, is one of the oldest stock exchanges in Asia. In the year 1956, the Bombay Stock Exchange was the original exchange observed under the Securities Contracts Regulation Act by the Indian Government . In 1995, the Bombay Stock Exchange changed to an electronic trading platform. Currently the exchange has the ability to prossess approximatly 9 million orders in one day. Presently Bombay Stock Exchange is located on Dalal Street, in the Fort area. The BSE has the maximum number of listed companies in the world which is a record.

Normal Operating Hours are from 9:55 AM to 3:30 PM Indian time. It remains closed on Saturdays and Sundays. In addition to the days the BSE is closed, there are a few days on the calender the BSE closes early.
