About The Hong Kong Stock Exchange
The Hong Kong Stock Exchange was opened in the year 1891 under the name Association of Stockbrokers in Hong Kong. Informal security exchanges have been taking place in Hong Kong since 1861. In 1914 the exchange was renamed HKSE. In the year 1921 a separate Hong Kong Stockbrokers Association was founded but at a later stage they merged with the HKSE. Between 1969 and 1972 three other organizations were founded, including; the Far East Exchange, the Kowloon Stock Exchange and the Kam Ngan Stock Exchange. They all operated independently but at later stage merged with the HKSE . The Hong Kong Stock Exchange is the second largest stock exchange in Asia, which has 1,241 listed companies with a combined market capitalization of $2.7 trillion. The city’s results are quiet similar to that of the European Union and ahead of many larger nations.
Hong Kong Stock Exchange Hours
The trading hours in Hong Kong is quiet less. There is actually a two hour break for lunch when no trading takes place at all. The trading day on the HKSE consists of: a pre-opening auction session from 9:30 am to 9:50 am, a morning trading session from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm and an afternoon continuous trading session from 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm.
